CONFIRMED NEW Avengers: Endgame Trailer Release Is Here

Published on

Looks like the Endgame promotion isn’t over just yet. Kevin Feige has just confirmed that the end of the ten year storyline will receive one more trailer before it inevitable debuts on April 26. Considering Infinity War had a few teases of its own before releasing it’s final trailer this isn’t that big of a surprise. Kevin didn’t give any specific dates as to when the Endgame trailer would drop, however. The general consensus was that the trailer would air during the oscars (because, you know, the oscars), but that obviously didn’t happen.

So now majority of the community believes that it will air sometime after Captain Marvel has has her debut, and here are some reasons as to why:

Captain Marvel

We know Captain Marvel is going to be key in taking on Thanos since she’s “the most powerful hero in the MCU,” but there’s still a lot of speculation surrounding what exactly her role is going to be when the movie comes out. Obviously, just because she’s the most powerful doesn’t mean she’s going to be capable of handling the Thanos situation by herself (because that would defeat the entire purpose of a team-up Avengers movie), so we’re left to wonder what else will her presence be able to offer to the group at large.

Different theories have indicated different things for her. Some believe that she will be the one to save Tony Stark and Nebula from the cold grave of deep space. She’s originally a spacefaring hero so that would make total sense. She’s gets the call to return to earth from Nick Fury, passes by Tony and Nebula’s ship and decides to tow them back to earth with her. Simple. Clean. To the point. But the Avengers: Endgame big tv spot suggests that Tony and Nebula are going to take a page of of Thanos’ book and just do it themselves.

Another theory suggests that the Skrulls will be apart of the Endgame plotline, and as Captain Marvel is now one of the only two people alive who’ve dealt with the skrulls on earth (the other being Phil Coulson), she’ll be instrumental in helping to detect and fight them off. But considering Endgame is supposed to be the epic finale of a 22-movie story, there definitely doesn’t seem to be any room left for it to give to a plotline like that. The two plots really don’t have anything to do with one another as it stands.

The more popular theory nowadays indicates that Captain Marvel will be providing time travel to the Avengers along with Scott Lang. We wouldn’t have suspected that at all considering time travel isn’t part of her original power set, but an interview will Samuel L. Jackson has claimed that MCU Carol does in fact have the ability to time travel. This a very specific and powerful ability to just add onto the character, so we should suspect that it’ll play a very important role down the line. But, there’s also the slim chance that it could only be important in Captain Marvel’s movie and she could very well lose the ability after the film. A power like time travel doesn’t seem like something that would be a staple in Carol’s moveset; it sounds like something that would be more akin to her Binary alter ego. In the comics, Binary was a one and done type of the thing. Carol held the power for a while but then reverted back to her original state. She can’t become Binary at will. If the MCU stays true to this idea, then Carol probably won’t have the ability to time travel by the time Endgame comes around. Then again, they gave the girl time travel abilities, so why not make it so she’s just able to become Binary at will.

You can probably see a pattern here. Those no definitive answer to anything involving Captain Marvel and Endgame right now. For every theory, there’s a counter theory, and that’s probably by design. Spoilers for Endgame have been placed under lock and key. The film makers aren’t having any of it apparently, and for good reason. This isn’t your ordinary blockbuster film, and considering what happened with Infinity War, it’s only natural Endgame’s protection has been upped.

After Captain Marvel

Once Captain Marvel has premiered, we’ll know what she’s really capable of, and be pretty much fully aware of what she can accomplish in Endgame. At that point, there won’t be any reason to hold back on the Endgame trailer. For one, if this upcoming trailer wanted to finally show some footage of Captain Marvel, they’d be able to. If the trailer airs at the end of March, the mass majority of people who wanted to see the movie will have gone already, so there won’t be any fear of spoilers for her or Endgame.

Added to that, waiting until after Captain Marvel has made her appearance stops the trailer from overshadowing her movie. Captain Marvel is still more or less an unknown entity to general moviegoers. This is in no way the case for the Avengers. It doesn’t help that Endgame is the biggest Avengers yet. Captain Marvel will be releasing in a matter of days now so throwing a new Endgame trailer out for everyone to speculate on will just detract from the movie’s publicity. It’s safe to suspect a late-March or early-April release.
