Strangest Thing You Missed In Avengers: Endgame Trailer

Published on

From out of nowhere, Marvel has managed to do what Tony couldn’t and pulled off one last Avengers: Endgame surprise. The second official trailer for the film is here, and we can say with the utmost confidence that it’s probably the best trailer for any MCU movie released to date. We’re going to break down the trailer informing you about what’s going on and about things you may have missed while watching it. We won’t be doing it by chronical order, so if you haven’t seen the trailer yet, go take a look.

A Story Told Over Ten Years

The new Endgame trailer is one that utilize footage both old and new, and it distinguishes between these two things by color filter. All the old footage uses the black and white filter with only the color red being visible being red. This color choice is what Marvel used for Infinity War to celebrate their ten year anniversary, and been using ever since to promote Endgame, a nice touch considering, Endgame is Infinity War’s other half.

The flashbacks take us through the pivotal points of the journey’s of the main three heroes of the Marvel cinematic universe. We see Tony crash land his Mark 1 armor in the desert and receive his symbolic heart from Pepper. We see Steve Rodgers fail to fit the profile of soldier, and only to bury his love, Peggy as a super soldier. We see Asgard and Thor bonding his with his father, two important things Thor lost. Finally we see deaths of the Avengers from Infinity War, something that affected all three members.

These flashback segments show us what the guys have losted and what their fighting for. In Tony’s case, this very well may confirm that he returns home to find that Pepper has died to the snap. Speaking of his return...

Iron Man

The trailer starts off showing Iron Man, a homage to the fact that he started the MCU. Tony even has a voiceline that basically states this. The trailer recaps his stranded in space predicament with new voice lines to his message for Pepper.

The Endgame promotional footage has presented us with bit of story for Tony Stark and this trailer wraps it up. In the first official trailer, we learn Tony was stranded in Space after Infinity War. In the official tv spot teaser, we see Tony has opted to take his Iron Man stance and do something to save himself. Finally, in this trailer we learn that the madman actually pulled it off as we see the Benetar arriving in New York.

Tony shows up later, but we’ll return to that in a minute.

Captain America

After Iron Man shows up initially Captain America takes the spotlight. We get a small extension of that same scene we got of him in the big spot teaser where he makes that disagreeing face. When we next see him, he’s talking to Black Widow and telling her that he’s been telling other people to move on, and while some do, he knows they can’t. These two scenes play out more or less as small extension of what we got in the big spot teaser. His best scene comes next.

In the big spot teaser we saw Cap got his shield back. It was assumed at the time that this was the moment where he got it back initially, but this trailer reveals that he’s already had it for quite some time as it pans up to his face while he straps the shield on. He. Is. Dirty. He has seen some crap go down in this shot. In fact, the world behind him looks like it’s on fire. He really looks like he’s back in the war. Still, he definitely looks like he’s about to say, “I can do this all this day.”

Steve shows up later, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Hawkeye

After Steve shows up, Hawkeye takes the spotlight. He’s training a young woman in the art of archery. People have pointed out that this girl is too old to be his daughter and that makes sense considering only a maximum of four years could have passed since the events of Age of Ultron. Because of this, the general consensus is that this may be Kate Bishop, a character who’s taken up Hawkeye’s mantle in the comics (think Miles Morales Spider-Man or X-23 Wolverine). Maybe training her is what he was doing when everything was popping off in Infinity War. He’s retired, so maybe he was preparing her to take on his role.

Whoever this person is, Hawkeye’s very next scene extends off of what we got for him in the first trailer, when he’s out and about as Ronan. Black Widow is comforting him, so something definitely has gone horribly wrong. This trailer doesn’t outright confirm if his family was indeed the thing he lost, but it’s the only thing that makes sense.

It’s obvious he makes the decision to return with Black Widow and the trailer also shows us the light he saw in the big spot was in fact only emergency lights or backup lights belonging to a facility.

Lastly, a lot of people are concerned about his haircut, but we say let him do him. It’s the end of the world, may as well go out looking like your best.

Ant- Man

Ant-Man has returned to the real world and he’s obviously confused as he approaches a power line dressed in articles of missing kids and people. WHile he may not know how or why he does already know that Hope, Jan, and Hank are gone, so he’s probably searching for Cassy in the subsequent scenes we get of him in this trailer. In fact there’s a shot where it looks like he may be trying to escape a burning down school considering there are aux cables, soda cans, foil wrappers, and pencils in the shot. Then again, he could be in Avengers HQ.

Whatever It Takes

We mentioned Tony and Steve make a reappearance in this trailer and this is the time. At the trailers end, Cap kicks off a quote that is repeated by certain heroes of the team up until the trailers climax. He says it, then Hawkeye says it, then Black Widow, says then finally, Tony says it, and once he does we see it: the Avengers assembled. All the surviving heroes including Tony and Nebula walk behind Cap while geared up in their quantum realm suits. The only heroes missing from the picture are Thor, Captain Marvel, and Bruce.

In Bruce case, it looks like they’re waiting for the actual movie premiere to reveal him to the public, probably because of Professor Hulk. As for Thor and Captain Marvel, they may not be in this scene, but they do get one of their own...

After-Title Scene

God, this scene is so badass without even doing anything significant. It’s literally just Thor testing Captain Marvel’s mettle, but it’s one of the most beast things in this trailer. Thor summons his StormBreaker right next to Captain Marvel’s face and she doesn’t even flinch, just smirks, and Thor smiles back with respect.

If we’re being honest, this one scene has us more hyped for Captain Marvel in Endgame than her entire movie did. Take that as you will.
